Should you give Buffo his juice jug in Mina the Hollower

Should you give Buffo his juice jug in Mina the Hollower? Buffo the green frog enjoys drinking pain (his words), but his Glutton’s Jug is empty, so he needs Mina to refill it by committing mass murder on his fellow critters. It’s a daunting task, but the real challenge comes after, when Buffo asks you to give him the jug.

Here’s how to find Buffo in Mina the Hollower, obtain his juice jug, and, most importantly, whether you should hand the jug to him or not.

How to get Buffo’s quest in Mina the Hollower

When you arrive in Mina the Hollower‘s Backwaters: Shanty Swamp for the first time (coming from the Western Wilds: Occupied Bridge), you can find Buffo the large green frog at the bottom of a waterfall.

Have a chat with him, and he’ll ask you to fill his empty juice jug. You will receive the Glutton’s Jug trinket, which you must equip first, and fill by defeating a total of 50 enemies. Once that’s done, return to Buffo and speak with him again, which presents you with the following dilemma: Should you give Buffo his juice jug, or not?

Should you give Buffo his jug in Mina the Hollower?

If you don’t give Buffo the jug, he will say: “C’mon, I really want it, don’t be like that!” but nothing else will happen. You can pick this option if you’d like to do something else for now, and give him the juice jug later.

If you give Buffo the jug, he’ll turn into an enemy equipped with a paddle and fireball projectiles, so be prepared for battle! While fleeing is certainly an option, consider moving to the larger arena just east of Buffo’s original spot to find a bit more room for burrowing. The paddle attacks are fairly straightforward slash attacks, while the fireballs float very slowly but can hinder you due to their large number.

Buffo can swim, but he can’t climb, so if you’d like an opportunity to observe his attacks, you can climb the rope to the higher ledge. If you time it well, you can bait him into attacking, drop down the ledge, hit him, and climb the rope again before his next attack lands.

Here’s where to find the rope and the spacious platform:

As a reward for enabling Buffo’s drinking problem and subsequently killing him, you’ll receive the Plasma Jug trinket. Equip it to gain bonus plasma from enemies.

Lastly, giving Buffo the jug will provide additional dialogue later on in the game, but it won’t change anything gameplay-wise. If you’d like to see the dialogue in advance, you can see it below, but we strongly recommend discovering it on your own!

After you restore all six spark generators and return to the Radiant Manor, Lionel will turn on you and start to list off all the atrocities that you’ve committed across the Tenebrous Isle.

One of them will include you giving Buffo the jug. As it turns out, you giving Buffo the jug back enabled them to drink themselves sick.

This won’t change the outcome of anything in-game, but it might make you feel a little guilty.
