Something fishy’s afoot, and it’s not the FBC

PlayStation’s June State of Play showcase has come and gone, with a bevy of exciting reveals, from a hairy new look at Marvel’s Wolverine to the world premiere of God of War Laufey. We also got a new trailer for Control Resonant, along with a release date for Remedy Entertainment’s hotly anticipated sequel. Now, if you’d watched State of Play like a normal person, you probably would have found the large, red text in the trailer proclaiming the Sept. 24 release date was impossible to ignore. It doesn’t really get more clear than this!

However, if you were watching State of Play like a sicko journalist, feverishly typing details into your content management system while grabbing good screenshots on your second screen, you could have missed this entire frame. You might instead refer to the YouTube description of the trailer for the release date, which says says Aug. 27 instead of Sept. 24.

At a glance, it seems as though Remedy changed this date very recently. How did this August release date make it all the way to the YouTube description on PlayStation’s official YouTube page? As of publication time, the YouTube description with the August release date is still live.

A representative for Remedy Entertainment told Polygon, “The release date is the 24th of September, if you see something else listed, that is the wrong date.” Polygon has also reached out to Sony for comment.
